In your own words, What do you think is the best thing that america left us(philipines) In 21st century literatre?

 

The best thing that Americans left Filipinos is Capitalism and Democracy. The world war 2 is a fight against capitalists, communists, and socialists parties. During and after this time, we are able to express our activism through literature. We are able to run a revolutionary spirit thorugh writing and journalism. This is a privilege only capitalists could freely express.

The socialists wanted to take more and more countries to their influence and take over the economy. This were necessary to socialists since in their belief, everyone should be given a grant/ salary by the government. This will result to a poor economy since most of the population gets inactive. They need more funds and resources, hence they tried to colonize other countries. Socialism is lead by a dictator. You cannot write critiques against him else you will suffer the consequences.

The communists, however, dictate everything down to their population. They dictate what job you should do and no one is allowed to speak against the tyrant. Every assets are owned by the government. You do not own your house, land, and life. Communism aims for a utopia. Unfortunately, communism requires a perfect leader which will never exist. No, you cannot write freely to express.

Capitalism, at its greatest sense, tells people to work based on their skills, wants, and capabilities as long as it is lawful. It engages the community to be productive and independent. Every individual has their rights to own an asset, and they have the right to defend themselves. Capitalism promotes democracy wherein every individual has a voice and an independent decision. This is where literature boomed. Everyone has the right to raise propagandas, write journals, and express their experiences.

In conclusion, the Americans gave us the concept of liberty which helped us to express our sincere thoughts to the world; through literature.

For me, this is the best thing that America left. In our modern day, we do not get jailed for ranting about government services, we do not get jailed for criticizing the administration, we have a choice over our careers. Capitalism makes people productive and free.
